Purpose
- A radioactive substance and a special camera are used to measure how much substance the thyroid absorbs from the blood.
- A thyroid scan is performed to identify any problems with the thyroid gland.
- A thyroid scan may be performed to test for thyroid nodules, or to check how well the thyroid is working.
