Muga Scan Preparation Requirements
No special preparation.

Patient is encouraged to wear a top that opens in the front to be able to stick 3 ECG electrodes.

The Scan

  • The patient is given the 1st injection in the vein of the arm to highlight the red blood cells.
    20 minutes later a 2nd injection is administered in the vein of the arm, which is the tracer that will mix with the highlighted red blood cells and we start taking images.
  • Patient lies on the table on their back with the left arm by the head, connected to the ECG monitor and the detector just above the patient's left chest.
  • The scan takes about 20 minutes. 

NB: Patients Must Bring Old X-Rays and scans for all procedures!
