Muga Scan Preparation Requirements No special preparation.
Patient is encouraged to wear a top that opens in the front to be able to stick 3 ECG electrodes.
The Scan
The patient is given the 1st injection in the vein of the arm to highlight the red blood cells.
20 minutes later a 2nd injection is administered in the vein of the arm, which is the tracer that will mix with the highlighted red blood cells and we start taking images.
Patient lies on the table on their back with the left arm by the head, connected to the ECG monitor and the detector just above the patient's left chest.
The scan takes about 20 minutes.
NB: Patients Must Bring Old X-Rays and scans for all procedures!
