Purpose
Indium-111 octreotide scan is used to detect the existence of unusual tumours. These tumours all interact with a hormone called somatostatin. The chemical octreotide, used for the scan in combination with a radioactive material (usually Indium-111), is chemically similar to this hormone.
The scan is most often used to detect a tumour known as carcinoid tumour.
NB: Patients Must Bring Old X-Rays and scans for all procedures! |
